Account giveaways should be done away with. There are many problems with them, some addressed already in this thread.

My biggest problem with account giveaways is that the accounts given away can be used to deceive other users.
Let's say User B gives User X an account to "MegaTracker" with 1TB up and 500GB down. User X can then use that account in their proofs to look better in giveaways. What if User X is actually a huge leecher? No one will know because he's using an account he was given for ratio proofs.

You're telling me that HDBits.org has open signups quite often ?

Why did you had 2 ScL accounts?
This is a poll about the account giveaways, not MINE accounts giveaway. Mind of you own business.

    I admin that's a risk.

Sure, but for fresh account it is not the case.

The ultimate solution is to close a little bit T-I and make it have less stupid boys in banning them.

Couldn't have put it better myself.
I prefer having a community that strives for safety upon inviters. If account GA is allowed, we're not doing that.

Keep in mind that all invites you hand out to people that you believe can take care of his account, actually may give it away the other day to somebody that may get you banned.
I know this is hard to prevent since there are other ways than through TI to do this, but I'd like to be a part of a community that spits on those.

If your desired tracker has invites closed, then THEY DON'T WANT YOU THERE. It's not an excuse for allowing this.

This topic is just one of the reasons trackers dont like sites handing out invites. Public or not, but it's the RULES and how strict they are that determines the outcome.

Oh, so we should only allow "fresh account" giveaways? Please tell me how that would work.

I didn't said ALL I said MOST of them, you know there is a difference between all and most.

And people will survive without HDBits.org.

Well, that alone should be more then enough to forbid account giveaways!

its obvious that he only cares about his igiver and not the security of the accounts that he gives to members.

This in tracker terms is basically a trade if they see you signing up with 1 IP and then another person is using it. Then not only does it disable the account, the user also gets a IP ban and can never enter the site again.

The only people here i can see that would want to keep it are those who want to boost their igiver and obviously dont care about other members accounts.

If trackers see this happen they immidiately assume its a trade. Would you really like the tracker to then pass all your details to other trackers and have you banned from all of them? Getting rid of account giveaways could be one of the best things for the safety of members in T-I

Really disheartening to see so many Yes votes, really a bad sign for the community.

    Voted no

High level accounts have a better chance at getting disabled because the tracker staff are a bit more paranoid on the users and they really dislike/hate giving away accounts.

That would lead trouble to the inviter and more problems could happen. Also a possible security issue in there
