lol who said TI`s forum is not active, one of the most active forums is TI-Forum.
and good changes, because hard to get more respect, easy to get less or no respect.

And many times, some "top" users decide to be nice and do some crazy giveaways in that section as well.
I am all for these new changes and believe they will give some extra meaning to the different ranks. Seriously guys, there are people in the 55% section still posting proofs with their username exposed. That, in my opinion, is a sign that from 10% to 55% it was just a few days of waiting. Now, not only will the 33% and 55% sections be more respected but also members will be more proud of their status.

If anyone has doubts about this new system or any other question related to Area 51 feel free to PM me.
    See you around,

    couldn't agree more...

All my current trackers are all gotten when i was 10%... I was lucky to fall into the old system but I seriously think it shouldn't effect those that hang around much in the forum.

I agrees I struggles with the rep issue early during my joining but I soon realized that if one do not think too much about the rep and promotion thingy, one tends to move forward easier...

I agree with the general conclusions made in the thread so far.

I'm a big fan of this recent change and like that it takes a little more activity now to reach the ranks. They shouldn't be a given after a few days and are still very obtainable by the average user :)

I also agree, that the overall activity in the forums is pretty amazing, which makes it pretty easy to get to know the people around here and have some nice conversations...

Thats my 2 cents so a +1 for this change ;)

I have alone give close to 1500 rep points, and i would say i am average. All creds to staff for changing this, it was really needed. And when people here starts to complain about it, we know that they did something right.

PM asking for invites on your own risk. If your PM is incredibly stupid, it WILL be posted in the mocking block.
Thank you to TI staff for five wonderful months!

I have to disagree, the forums and IRC are INCREDIBLY active, start some threads my friend, we have a TON of people who love to discuss a variety of things :)

I will also give you this awesome gem, it was once a secret till Vectorking went and published it, shhh!!

It's a really good guide on how to be awesome on T-I :)
First of all, I was not asking for rep. When I said it wasn't active I was comparing it to other forums I am apart of in which 5 pages of new threads will be filled up in 10 minutes. And that guide looks to be really good, so hopefully it will help me out. I'll have to wait until I start getting invites to better sites, nobody is biting on demonoid invites...

The forums here are quite active, backed by a really good community.
I definitely agree with you. Rep should not be given out like candy.

But I've only been a member for about 1.5 months, and have received 0 rep and I put effort into my posts. Again, I'm very happy where I am right now in this forum. I've gotten invites to very good trackers, and should be getting my own set o invites pretty soon. I'm just saying, at this rate it may take a few years to get into 33%.

As for earning rep, it is not supposed to be easy, but it is far from impossible, my rep since I joined has always been at least half my rep count, so with the old system my promotion was always delayed by either my post count, or my time on the site, since i had earned the rep already. If I had joined now my concern would still be the number of posts/ length of time required for promotion. So I have to say rep isn't an issue on the forum. If you are having trouble I really do suggest you take a look at the link posted by RaNCID, its invaluable if you want to earn rep, it worked for me.
Furthermore, these changes are in the forum's best interests. It was way too easy to get promoted before, I got to 55% in the minimum amount of time and I'll be the first to say it was earned way too easily. In fact, I actively had to stop myself from semi-spamming just to get to the post count required for the next rank, and a lot of others do start to spam when they're close to the next rank. All you have to do is watch the forum, it happens all the time. With these new changes doing that won't be as easy.

As for reporting ratio proofs, you should take a look at the reported posts section, 90% of all the reports come from a small group of members here who are constantly active looking through Area51, and I can guarantee you those members get the recognition they deserve, even though I'm pretty certain they do it to help out the site, not in search of rep, since a few of them have way more rep than pretty much anyone here. Also, I have personally repped most of the frequent post reporters and I know many of the Area51 mods have as well, so do not say that it does not earn you rep. However, it isn't an easy task so doing it for the rep really isn't a good idea. A lot of members here, me included, do what we do here because we want to help, rep is not our main goal, but it is a welcomed bonus, and that is how everyone should view it in my opinion.

Sorry to sort of single you out, however I felt like I had to point out a few things, If you do have real trouble earning rep or any other trouble with the site feel free to PM me with any questions, or better yet find me on IRC and we can chat. I've helped out a few starting members (*cough* KevinFlynn *cough*) where I could and have no issues helping out a couple more, and you'll find many like minded people on the site/IRC.
And most importantly, don't stress, T-I is a fun place, and you shouldn't waste time worrying about post count/rep etc, all that will come, just relax and enjoy your time here, the rest will work itself out.
It's fine that you singled me out. i think I'm just a little mad because I am very trust worthy person that maintains my ratio on every tracker, and take it very seriously. I just have to understand that this won't be reflected with my rep on this forum, and I guess i'll have to try even harder.

But, yeah i'll definitely pm you or get on irc if I have any questions.

Hang in there. People will take notice that you are a solid guy, even if it takes longer than you think it should. I didn't receive much rep the first month or so I was here either. It crossed my mind that it would take a long time to reach 33/55% But after I helped a few people and made some (presumably) helpful posts, I received more rep. It takes time and it is not linear.. it goes in fits and starts but the long term trend is consistent.

When in doubt, redouble your efforts. Because this forum is active and there are a lot of good people here, I am certain that you will receive more rep if you are active + try to help people out.

The truth is rep takes time and dedication, and even hard work (for the ultimate rep). Your posts might not get repped now even with a hard work. Some users might find some of your posts useful only after a few months.

The rep requirements are still low in my eyes.I would have doubled them if it was my decision. :P
Change is nice though.Better than before at least.

Ok users, let me share a "secret" with you. I will tell you what I believe to be the easiest way of getting rep. With this method and some dedication you will have no problem with the promotion to 33%.

So, here it is, KevinFlynn's tip: Tracker Reviews!

Hell yeah! We are talking about instant reputation. But, please note, it has to be a GOOD review. Carefully read this post if you are interested:
Bonus rep for creating good tracker reviews (UPDATED)

This is it. But remember, guys who make mediocre tracker reviews and try to get the 10 rep points will be slapped in the face by myself jk.
So, no more whining - get to work guys! haha

    Cheers
