I agree with TheChief about the ads taking up valuable space on mobile devices and on his other point about the options that already exist to browse T-I freely so I would suggest the following...

There are a lot of apps that offer a free version and a paid version, this would be the ideal way to go in my opinion. First impressions are everything so releasing one version to gauge reaction and then releasing the other if said reaction is negative will decrease the number of end users because most people will simply delete and forget/move on. In this scenario people would try the free app with ads and if they find the app lagging because of useless ads then they can get the paid version that is ad free... imo it's the best of both worlds.

P.S. : For the free version, please carefully consider the ad placement because screen real estate is in short supply and getting ads in the middle of posts will seriously affect the overall experience. I personally find that mobile sites that place their ads anywhere else than the top or bottom of the screen are far less enjoyable than the ones that do.

Another thing to keep in mind is screen resolution. If you are testing the app on a new device then your resolution will most probably be higher then if you were using a 1 or 2 year old device. Obviously if your resolution is lower then you can't fit as much on screen so ad placement becomes even more important along with the overall layout of the mobile version.
